Why ask if you don’t want to know?

What is an opinion and why do so many people get “butt hurt” when you give them one contrary to their own beliefs? I would never pay someone to agree with me, but I go out of my way everyday to gain insight that will affect my own opinion. This is more of a though provoking post rather than a current situation…
Not that my 6 year $200K education skipped the definition of opinion but I’d like to just be clear. According to Wikipedia the definition of the word OPINION is as follows: “an opinion is a subjective belief, and is the result of emotion or interpretation of facts. An opinion may be supported by an argument, although people may draw opposing opinions from the same set of facts. Opinions rarely change without new arguments being presented. However, it can be reasoned that one opinion is better supported by the facts than another by analysing the supporting arguments. In casual use, the term opinion may be the result of a person’s perspective, understanding, particular feelings, beliefs, and desires. It may refer to unsubstantiated information, in contrast to knowledge and fact-based beliefs.
“Collective or professional opinions are defined as meeting a higher standard to substantiate the opinion.”
We all should be seeking opinions from every person we meet on every topic we can muster and playing devils advocate if we must just to increase the take away. Use that beautiful brain of yours to process and substantiate NEW perspectives and discover NEW opportunities.
